Council for a Strong America (CSA) is a national, bipartisan nonprofit that unites five organizations comprised of law enforcement leaders, retired admirals and generals, business executives, pastors, and prominent coaches and athletes who promote evidence-based solutions that ensure the next generation of Americans will be successful, productive members of society.

Our more than 9,000 members bring decades of expertise and leadership across our communities and at the state and national levels to promote evidence-based policies that strengthen our country. CSA is a dynamic, engaging organization working at the federal level and in all 50 states, with a proven, 20-year track record of strengthening families, communities, the economy, and our national security.

CSA currently seeks a Social Media and Digital Content Associate for its Communications team. The person in this role should have at least two years of communications experience, with proven expertise in digital communications work (social media, web), as well as demonstrated expertise in developing multimedia campaigns and in writing communications materials of the type commonly developed by CSA, such as talking points, media advisories and press releases, and opinion writing submitted for publication in print or online outlets. Expertise in speechwriting, storytelling, and media relations to drive attention to and support for public policy victories is preferred.

This role will report to the Director of Communications. The person in this position will be instrumental in crafting messaging for and amplifying the work of CSA and its members. The role will also play a vital role in helping to achieve policy victories through a coordinated, multifaceted communications strategy.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary strategist and writer for social-media content across the five membership organizations and for the larger CSA brand.
  • Generate, edit, publish and share engaging content daily (original text, graphics, photos, videos, and news)
  • Serve as the primary writer for website-based content.
  • Manage CSA’s website and social-media accounts, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, in order to keep content regularly updated. 
  • Monitor and report on web and social media analytics.
  • Assist with the development of communications strategies and plans to successfully advance CSA policy goals, which include message development, tasks, and timelines.
  • Initiate and manage communications strategies that break new ground for CSA and further strengthen our success in driving policy change.
  • Collaborates effectively with state offices.
  • Perform copy editing of materials for publication. 
  • Regularly update our database of print and video clips. 
  • And other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of two years of experience in generating and managing social-media and website content, and proofreading, exemplified by a portfolio of published work.
  • Experience in developing, creating, and implementing social media strategy, preferably as part of a larger, integrated campaign activity.
  • Experience with basic video and graphics editing; familiarity with video editing programs preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • High degree of initiative, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively and successfully meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a matrixed team environment.
  • Experience writing for a news-media audience is preferred.
