Job Description 

The Mission: Readiness Associate will provide organizing, travel, logistical, and organizing support to the Mission: Readiness team.  The role will primarily be responsible for organizing media and community events across the United States in 2019 and 2020 focused on the critical role that nutrition plays in preparing young Americans for success.  

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Organize press and community events across the United States including but not limited to venue selection, participants, and member and staff travel.

  • Manage internal coordination supporting materials independently and effectively.

  • Draft accurate and detailed logistical and background memoranda for senior retired military leaders and staff.

  • Provide on the ground support to retired military leaders and colleagues.

  • Coordinate trainings and disseminate materials to member Speakers Bureau; seek and review speaking requests and arrange member and staff travel.

  • Complete administrative tasks as assigned including but not limited to database input, material assembly, and transfer.


1-2 years in a professional setting (preferably in an organizing, campaign, or legislative support role)


  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects at once.

  • Ability to be proactive and anticipate needs.

  • Ability to be responsive to rapidly changing needs or deadlines.

  • Comfort with and willingness to make “cold calls” as necessary.

  • Interest or background in obesity prevention and child nutrition, and/or national security

  • Experience staffing or providing direct support for senior leaders a plus, but not required

  • Willingness to travel overnight, 1-2 times/month


  • High School Diploma College Degree

  • Post Graduate


Average Frequency: One-two trips per month for 1-3 days
